James Dolton

Hi all. I’m James Dolton. I do various things, with varying degrees of success.

I have performed my own spoken word performance poetry in a variety of venues predominantly in the West Midlands including the Times Cheltenham Literature Festival, Hit the Ode, Warwick Words Festival, Ledbury Poetry Festival, Worcestershire Literary Festival and the Edinburgh Flea Circus Slam. I am currently Ledbury Poetry Festival Slam Champion and Worcestershire Literary Festival Slam Champion 2012.

My debut play “Do What You Want” was performed in April 2012 by Watch This Theatre Company at the University of Birmingham. My next effort “Everyone Is A Writer” is to be performed in October 2012.

I have performed in Southwark Victoria Theatre in new musical Sunshine Guy and am due to appear in 3Bugs Guild Drama Company’s version of The Sea by Edward Bond in November 2012.

I am Comment and Features online editor of Redbrick, the Birmingham University paper (available at Redbrick.me) and have written over 50 articles for them. I also interned for Broadway Baby (the Edinburgh Fringe’s largest independent reviews company) in August 2012 which can be seen

Examples of my work are available in my Ideastap portfolio

I will add to this sporadically. Here is a wanky shot of me in a pub reading words.
